Metropolitan City of Naples

The Metropolitan City of Naples (Italian: ''Città metropolitana di Napoli'') is an Italian Metropolitan City in Campania region, established on January 1, 2015. Its capital city is Naples; within the city there are ''92 municipalities''.〔(Upinet.it )〕
It was first created by the reform of local authorities (Law 142/1990) and then established by the Law 56/2014.
The Metropolitan City of Naples is headed by the Metropolitan Mayor (Sindaco metropolitano) and by the Metropolitan Council (Consiglio metropolitano). Since 1 January 2015 Luigi de Magistris, as mayor of the capital city.
==Demography and territory==
(詳細はVesuvius and Campi Flegrei, its territory occupies only 8.6% the surface of the Campania (13,590 km²), and in it is concentrated more than half of the entire regional population. This phenomenon of overcrowding has created a strong demographic imbalance and territorial with the four provinces in Campania.
To get a clearer idea of its territorial limits, just consider that the Neapolitan area is to 96º place on 110 Italian provinces by extension. Its area, 1,171 km² including islands, in fact it is smaller than the surface of the only town of Rome (1,287 km²).〔(The metropolitan city is an historic challenge ''(page 16)'' )〕
The substrate of the municipalities varies widely, ranging from 1.62 to 117.27 km² of Casavatore km² of capital; 60% of the municipalities are small (less than or equal to 10 km²), 36% of medium-sized (> 10 km² and ≤ 25 km²), the rest (11%) more than 25 km² and, of this, only two municipalities (Acerra and Giugliano) are between 50 and 100 km² and only the municipality of Naples exceeds 100 km².
The population density of the metropolitan city amounted to 2,672 inhabitants / km², 12 metropolitan municipalities exceeding 50,000 inhabitants, in the list of the top 60 Italian municipalities that it includes three of the Neapolitan: Giugliano, Torre del Greco and Pozzuoli, while Casavatore is the first common in Italy for population density with 12,000 inhabitants. / Km², followed by Portici. Last Ptcp (Provincial Territorial Coordination Plan) showed that the urbanized area is equal to a total of 381.12 km² corresponding to 32.54% of the total area of the territory, it follows an effective framework to densely populated real climbing to more 8,000 inhabitants / km².〔(The territory and the anthropic )〕
At present it is very difficult to distinguish the boundary line between the mother city, adjoining areas and hinterland, completely welded together into one agglomeratourbano seamlessly, both in the vast area north (Giugliano, Afragola, Acerra and Nola) and in the Flegrea, Vesuvius and Stabia-Sorrento.
